Good evening, all! I'm finally getting BACK around to working on my 2ch system, and am very excited to bring my CRSs back to spec. I am looking for the aformentioned 16Mh air core inductor for my right speaker. That's the speaker that fell off a truck and the original "big copper slinky" snapped in half and uncoiled itself all over the inside of the cabinet.
Anyway, I finally have a decent enough amp to show me that my hack job from before just isn't cutting it...
Thanks for the help!!!

Just a thought... maybe someone who has done an upgrade to their crossover might have a couple of these collecting dust. I know these are on the CRS models... I'm pretty sure they appeared in others as well.
Anyway, thanks for digging through the old boxes! -
If originals cannot be found, you could always get one with similar values that will also work well.

Just get new ones from Parts Express.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I got two from PE a while ago and combined them (I think a 12Mh and a 4Mh, if I remember correctly). I was really thinking that I could hear the difference between the speakers, though. Of course, I'm NOW thinking that the DVD player source I'm using may be the culprit. I guess I thought I'd just eliminate a variable...
And, just to add a level of confusion, I replaced the crossover board with a NOS one from Polk recently... maybe it just needs burn-in... I dunno... this is tough stuff! -
The board doesn't need any burn-in. It can be a all consuming hobby.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I'm all consumed."Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer -
Jantzen Audio makes 16mH air core inductors. I'm not sure who stocks them, but if you contact Peter at Jantzen, they could send you the correct values directly.

Ah! I appreciate all the help! The reason I started thinking about all this again was after reading some posts concerning replacing the large air cores as an "upgrade." The concern was that the newer units don't have the same resistance as the original, and that that would alter the bass response. For me, of course, I was taking that as a possible reason for a left/right imbalance, as I have the original in the left speaker, and a parts express "stack" in the right.
It seems that maybe this isn't really the problem, although I still think I would like to find an original to put in, just so both speakers were the same. I'm pretty sure that's just a "mental issue" now, though! -
I might have an extra one!!!

Ah! Well, I'd certainly like to talk to you about that! I'll attempt to pm you. Thanks!
