I have these as my side surrounds in a room that is roughly 13' wide....would the smaller FXiA4s be a better match for the room size. (and better match acoustically)

Honestly, the A6s are sort of an obstacle mounted to the side walls...

Have you thought about in-walls, or a more flat speaker for the sides ? I have a feeling the wife objects to the monsters on the side wall.

Def tech Mythos has some very nice flat speaks.

The 6s are big! But, going to the 4s only takes off about 3" in height, 2" in width and an inch in depth... I say learn to live with them. Going smaller isn't going to be "a better match acoustically", unless you're just going to use that phrase to justify your downgrade.

Not so much the wife as the fear of a child running into them / hitting their head on one....in wall would be perfect, except my aversion to doing any more drywall work down there in the "family cave"
