Hi everyone. I'm new but don't worry, I read the rules and will try not to violate any of them.

I have some speakers that I inhereted a few years ago and was hoping that somebody could tell me what I have.

They are cabinet speakers about 4 feet high, they have a black screen that wraps around them from one side across the front and back along the other side. They also have a little logo doodad that has the letters RSL. I have looked on the back and by the connections there are two adjustment knobs. One if for midrange and the other is for bass.

Under the hood there is a woofer I'm guessing about 10" and two midranges about 5 or 6" and a rectangular tweeter and some bass holes.

A few weeks ago my wife was out so I had a chance to really crank them up (I was playing Ted Nugent's first album) and a neighbor of mine a few houses down across the street said they sounded really good. I went over to his house so I could hear them for myself and WOW! I was pleasantly surprised. I had been thinking "what if they sound good to ME but two houses down they sound like cr*p? like some car stereos that go by?

Anyway, any info would be appreciated.

Sounds like vintage Rogersound Labs, they went out of business in the early 90's. A British loud-speaker company, had a good following. Some of the earlier models appeared to be 'JBL' clones (of the day), but they did a lot of original designs also.

Good luck finding any info on them, try some of the 'vintage' audio boards, like Audioasylum.

    Cheers,

    Thanks, Russman!

Rogersound Labs going out of business would probably explain why I couldn't find anything on these speakers by doing a search for RSL.

How would you rate these speakers compared to what is available today from Polk Audio?

I'm not the least bit of an audiophile. If I had not inherited them I probably never would have bought them.
