RTA 12's set to 50hz

I've been doing tons of experimenting with my new RTA 12's. I've been running them thru my Pioneer SC35 for a few months now and finally had my chance to tone/dial them in (sic). What I felt was a good setting at 80hz just didn't seem to work especially when I went towards the back of the 18 X 20 living room.
I reset the amp at 50hz contrary to what the MCACC AutoAV setting had set it to and wham! What a difference!- it totally took the burden from my substandard (sub) PSW125 to drive the base and allocated the best part of the 50HZ AND ABOVE to the RTA12 passives. I'm pretty stoked! -
Bottom line to me is: automatic MCACC is good, but...... experiment, adjust, ask for feedback from others and make your system sound the best that it can be.
Cheers

Hey, I have RTi A9's whuch are like you RTi12's and a SC-35 also.
I have ran mine 80Hz, 50Hz, and LARGE (full range). I have found 50Hz and and full range to sound more pleasing to me. Now, I'm running them full range and I thing they will stay that way.
Do you listen to more music or is your setup more for HT.
Also, I found that adjusting my EQ after auto cal really made everything come together.Fronts: Polk RTi A9

Receiver: Pioneer Elite SC-35 (140 watts x 7)
Amplifier: Adcom GFA-555 Mk.II (200 watt @ 8 ohms)
