Read the article and weep
I'm going put my Michael Jackson's "Off The Wall" MiniDisc on tonight to mourn MD's demise.

I thought it was already dead.

I thought it was already dead.
That's what I thought too... I always wanted to compared the sound quality of the MiniDisc verses standard CDs, but I guess I'm 10 years too slow for that. -
Humm,I also thought it was buried years ago.

The 90s mostly. I had two portable players - one original one that had toslink in / outs and then a newer gen one that had USB / toslink and associated itunes'ish software. I can't say I was a big fan of ATRAC, especially since I had to convert already compressed MP3s to it. But I copied a bunch of CDs -> minidisc as lossless. SQ was great - hell I think I still have the player and 30+ MDs at my parents' house. Might dig that stuff out if it's thereALL BOXED UP for a while until I save up for a new place

I've still got and occasionally use my Sony MD. Would like to have a component sized player for the home stereo though. But yeah, I thought these died out a few years ago.--Gary--
