Distortion Problem

I have 2 MM 521 and 2 MM 651 speakers in my motorcycle fairing running off of a JVC KD R 620 head deck. I have a large amount of distortion happening even at mid volume. Could this be caused by vibration from the plastic fairing and the fact that I do not have an amp and the speakers are not getting enough power? would putting Dynamat inside of the fairing help? I have heard so many people rave about the Polk MM series speakers saying they do not distort. Please help. Thanks Dave

    Can you describe the distortion?

Does it sound like buzzing or rattling or does it sound like, I dunno, a "farting" noise?

If it's buzzing or rattling, it's likely the faring and some Dynamat or other sound deadener would do you good.

Also, if you have tone controls (bass/treble) jacked all the way up, you may be over driving the amp in the head unit. Back them off a bit and see how it fares then.

But I thought you installed an amp in there? What happened to that?
