fwiw, the head gasket is a common problem with civics of this vintage and a easy and pretty inexpensive repair (assuming there has been no major oveheating problem that can lead to a warped head which would need to be machined). the slipping automatic tranny could just be low on fluid, but is another pretty common fail of this model. the good news is that it can operate in this condition for a very long time before failing so there is no urgency in getting the repair, just an annoyance and inferior gas millage. unfortunately a new or rebuilt automatic is very expensive. one thing that many people with this problem do is retrofit the car with a manual which is a much less expensive alternative and far more reliable system. glwts.

Actually converting is cheaper if you know a good place and can get a decent used trans.

Those little automatics are pretty dang expensive.

    '94 Capri.... wow

You might get more money hauling that old gal off to the scrap yard than you will selling it as a car.
