Taming the SL2000?

So I just recapped the crossover in one of my Monitor 10Bs. The difference is amazing - there's detail where there was only mud before. However, I am now definitely noticing the peak at 13K now, which I was not getting before. Before I go to recap the other xover, I thought I'd ask - will replacing the resistors in the cap help to tame that peak (and if not, what kind of improvement will I get overall from replacing the resistors in addition to recapping)?

If not, as I expect since I can't find any info on here about successfully taming these tweeters, what would y'all recommend - a used pair of Peerless or the RD0-194s?

Check the tweeters,, if you have the SL2000,,then replace them with the RDO 194 from polk. A pic would help.
JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

There's really no way to tame an SL2000 by modding the crossover. The RDO-194 drops in place an is universally preferred by those who have done so.

RDOs from Polk cost about $100 and are very easy to change out.

One other option for taming the 2000 is live till you're over 70 and you'll wonder where the 13,000 peak went.........and very much of any sound over 13,000:biggrin:

The SL2000 is like the Miley Cyrus of tweeters - it "can't be tamed."
