12v trigger help

I recently purchase a parasound 2205a amp which has a 12v trigger as does my AVR. However the AVR as a 1/8mm plug but the amp doesn't. It seem to have something that close resembles speaker input. From what I can tell it looks like it had a place for 12v and ground. How can I connect the two. I have a spare 1/8mm to 1/8mm (both male) cable. Can I cut this open and disconnect the appropriate wires or is there a better way?

If you got a 1/8" plug you could strip it and install it on the amp screws.

I also have a 2205a and as disneyjoe just said cut off the connector from the cable and strip it back for connection. I would recommend using crimp-on fork or ring terminals at the end to contain the stranded wire and provide a good connection.

    BTW....very nice amp.

So... I did just that and found 3 individual cables inside. Red, white and yellow. Been trying a few combinations but nothing has worked yet. Any idea which color is what?

Or do I need to use a 1/8" momo for this to work.

1/8" mono should work - I think the inner wire is the signal wire and outer wire is ground. (or the other way around). Should work w/ a stereo cable as well - I remember finding the diagram via google and also doing a little trial and error.

Call Tony at Parasound and he will mail you a correct 12v plug. He did for me at least and I would assume he would do the same for you.

Although I have 1/8" plugs on both components I have to use a mono cable for mine to work.

The plug you are trying to use is a stereo plug, you will need a mono plug.
Simply pick up a mono cable from the shack, cut one end off, leaving the male plug on the wire, strip the ends, take an ohm meter & detirmine which wire goes to which part of the plug. the end of the plug will be your + and the next ring down is -. Connect to the appropriate terminals & you're done.
