I plan to upgrade to an AVR like the 3008 that has 135-140wpc. I want to upgrade my existing surrounds (Tsi100) to the RTI4.

Problem is RTI4 is rated at no more than 125 wpc. Would the 3008 blow out the Polks ?

You can never have too much power .....seriously...it is better to have an amp rated higher than your speakers, imo.

Most horror stories you read of damaged speakers are with low powered AVRs or receivers and owners who push them too hard into distortion causing fried drivers.

The Rti-4s are a nice small bookshelf that sounds pretty darned good on Onkyos. I run a set with an Onkyo 604 and an 8" sub in my bedroom and it's like they were made for each other. In that smallish room you couldn't ask for much more and you certainly don't need anymore power.

But if you have a larger space the 3008 will be a good performer with those.

    Enjoy!
