flat sub cable

Hey all,
I just purchased a sub that I want to set up as an end table. Can't run the wire on the ground or in wall and would prefer not to buy a wireless kit. So is there a such a thing as flat speaker cable that sounds decent and won't cost as much as the sub? Could i build one?
Thanks in advance!

R59, you've left out most of the relevant details. You don't describe the sub, but assuming that it has an internal amplifier, you aren't going to be sending actual power to it, just audio signals, so you don't need a thick electrical wire to carry possibly more than 100 watts.
You also don't indicate where this cable would be run(under a carpet, etc.?). There are mini-coaxial cables available and very thin electrical wire could be used for speaker level inputs on the sub, if that's what you have in mind, since essentially zero power is carried. So, more details would be helpful. -
Sorry. It has an internal amp and an outlet very close by. So basically I need an RCA cable to run from the avr to the sub. There is no carpet, it would be running along the baseboard of an exterior wall (so running through the wall is not an option). I am hoping some basically flat cable could run along the baseboards and be painted white. Is this possible?Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

Okay, so you're going to use the line level connection with coaxial cable. Coax is inherently round rather than flat, but it comes in various thicknesses and colors. Depending on how low a level of visibility would suit you, getting the Belden 1505F in white from Blue Jeans Cable here is a good option.

Audiovox Acoustic Research makes a flat series of RCA cables, the FS series. Do a search. It's also priced well enough for John to like it.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Thanks Mark that does look like the best option for my situation and budget. Would a basic stereo rca cable work? I know that a better cable would provide better results, but I'm kind of in a pinch here...Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

I think Mapleshade too has flat ribbon cables, not cheap though.
I like my cables like my women, full figured with rounded edges.HT SYSTEM-

Yea, I think that my best solution might be to just run a regular "full-figured" cable right along the baseboard just above the crown molding and then paint it the same color. Wouldn't be much different than the flat cable, and much cheaper since I already have several options to choose from.
This is of course all dependent on whether or not I can convince my wife to let me keep this humongous sub :frown:Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

rooftop,
Sounds like you are in the same situation I was in with my original room configuration. I ended up buying a 35 foot RCA from monoprice with a y splitter. I ended up taking off the baseboards and running the cable behind the baseboards and drilling a hole through the baseboard to feed the cable through behind the sub. It worked great and nobody saw the cables. It was a very clean look.Shawn

If useing a regular cable, this approach works well. Consider that when you remove the baseboard, there's usually a space between the drywall and the floor big enough to shove that full figured cable into.HT SYSTEM-

Ditto on the running it behind the baseboard. It's easier than you'd think. If you really wanted a clean look you can even put an RCA plate on the wall next to the sub.Display: LG 47" LCD | AVR: Marantz SR5005 | BD: Panasonic BDT-210 | CD/SACD: Oppo 980 |
