AND...as dumb as I am about the issues, my wife & I are far more educated on these things than the vast majority of our friends and acquitances. It's truly scary what some people believe to be true, and wonder where the hell they ever got the idea in their mind to begin with.

I make no bones about it, I'm a conservative, and that will never change. I feel that entitlements "cripple" people, they don't truly help them. I'm a "teach a man to fish" kinda guy, but I am compassionate to those who are worthy of compassion. My time as a leader in the military taught me a wealth of information about people, how to motivate them, and how to get them to a place where they are self-reliant. You see every kind of person being an Army Sergeant, and you've got to learn how to develope the charisma to communicate effectively with each and every one of them, regardless of their political beliefs. What have I learned? People WILL RISE to the occassion when challenged. It's not a comfortable place to be at times--but they earn a whole new level of self-respect when they succeed.
