Definitive Tech SM450

I am selling my surrounds in my main rig, now that I have some Polk RT35i floating around they can handle surround duty no issues. The SM450 is way over kill but I like 6.5 so the SM350 was a no go.
This is the speaker that got me into modifying speakers. After seeing how well they responded to modifications I was hooked.
These feature the famous Def Tech 1" aluminum dome that has been used in their speakers for over 10 years and the classic 6.5" "bottomless" woofers that the Parts Express crew coined a few years back when PE came into a batch of the woofers.
Coupled with a 10" planar PR - they are built for good solid bass to around 45 or so hz.
Super compact - a good 3 or so inches shorter than the Polk 6.5" bookshelf and they put out big big sound.
Infact, the Trinity church in New York used a few of these speakers to reproduce the sound of trumpets in their church. (Real cool story involving an electronic organ)
The interior of this speaker has had Sonic Barrier applied throughout, mills resistors and Dayton caps (5% on the woofers, 1% on the tweeter.
I have the original box (and maybe the manual, NO PROMISES on the manual) -
The tops are easily a 9/10 but I will call it 8/10 because of cleaning marks. The only "blemish" I know of I took a picture of for your enjoyment because it is there but it is on the bottom corner so on stands you will never see it..
Unlike most Def Tech product the bottom is high gloss black as well.
I had these on wall mounts but the wall mounts had rubber fittings on the bottom and sides and they were squeezed on to the speaker so there are no "marks" that you can see under normal or even brighter than normal lighting. I just did a double check - yeah totally no signs of them being on a wall mount.
The grill socks are perfect. So perfect you could wear them to a club as a shirt.
They feature gold binding post!
They are just bad **** monitors, mirror imaged - nice pin point imaging, great detail and excellent midrange.
PS - these are NOT bipolar.
The lowest cost set available on the internet I can find is refurbished ones for 400 shipped.
This realistically is no different. You dont need no stinking warranty and these babies are tricked out!
$400 shipped OBO takes these bad boys and you wont be disappointed with your purchase. Easily a notch over the RTi series and crowding into LSi territory if not sharing the podium! IMO
I can drop a nicer capacitor into the tweeter network with ease - just pay for the parts and it will be done. They respond real well to better parts!
Disclaimer - The interior picture is of my center channels - they use an Auricap. This uses Dayton 1%
