If this is too complex for you, you're going to have to get someone to do it for you.

Ok my problem is the command "brctl" isn't found... It comes back as "Command not found"

ip addr flush dev <interface 1>
ip addr flush dev <interface 2>
    brctl addbr <bridge name>
    brctl addif <bridge name> <interface 1> <interface 2>
ip link set dev <bridge name> up

    I'm running Ubuntu 11.04

are you just running it, or are you doing "sudo brctl"?

make sure your environment path includes the directory where this command exists.

I would search for the command - to verify it is part of your OS build.

And if you search for it and find it - try 'cd'ing to the directory then execute the command to verify it works. Then verify the path is part of your environment.

I think I got things to work after I did these updates.. http://www.techdrivein.com/2011/04/12-things-i-did-after-installing-new.html

Then I redid the bridge updates and it understood the "brctl". Not sure everything is work ok if this computer is rebooted. I don't think its bridge then, do I need to do something for that?

Mind if I ask why you're doing that? Odds are what you're trying to do can be solved with less than about $30 of hardware.

Put this on your router (it's worth it, regardless):
    http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/index

Then do this (there are many other solutions, google is your friend):
    http://www.geeked.info/traffic-logging-with-wrtbwlog/

If your router doesn't support DD-WRT, well, it's about time for an upgrade, anyway.

You can lock out specific sites (for just her computer), only allow specific sites, only allow access at certain times of day, I think that there's time and MB metering, etc.

Probably a better solution than dealing with everything running through your computer and trying to watch it.

I'm using dd-wrt with a WRT54G router, and this router is setup as wireless repeater and switch. Feeding a computer port, and a printer server.

Isn't this just what I'm trying to do?

"Probably a better solution than dealing with everything running through your computer and trying to watch it."

BTW I can do this under Windows with no problem. But like to do it in Ubuntu.

Oops. Just noticed your edit. Carry on, but I think you're going about this the hard way.
