Speaker matching
I am new to the Polk Forum. I have RT25i's for rears and CSM center chanel. I am on a tight budget and looking at a pair of Monitor 40's for main speakers.....good price at $119 at newegg.com (original $299). Would these be a good match?

Your RTi25's are very good little speakers (I've always wanted a pair). Those would be better than the Monitor 40 IMO.
If I were you I'd look for a center to match the RTi's and then get yourself a couple of surrounds on the cheap. R15/R20's are a good match for pretty much everything and shouldn't set you back much at all.
Although I must admit, that price on the Monitors is tempting. Very tempting. -
Thanks Dobermann.....I realy like the RT25i's. I am currently using them as my fronts and a set of R10's for the rear. The R10's are pretty good. I just like the price of the Monitor 40's and thought it was time for an upgrade. Maybe I should consider staying with my fronts and rears and invest in a better center channel. Any suggestions?

hey dad... found a good article on the rt25i http://www.stereophile.com/standloudspeakers/417/
also i have been looking around and found that people are recommending the RTI a1 as a newer match the the rt25i only thing is they are a bit more$$$.. hopefully someone can chime in and confirm or deny that they match.

also found the the cs245i would be a matching center for the rt25i

according to polks list of matching center channels the csi a4 would be a newer match to the rt25i..

what we could do is i can bring my cs1 over and see how it matches up with the rt25i and the rest of your system . but after some quick research i have a feeling that the monitor series might not match up great.
again hopefully someone can confirm everything i found -
I would keep the 25's up front and definitely find a better center to timbre match the 25's. The cs245 will work but a cs400 would be your best option IMO. Good luck.Music doesn't lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music.

Thanks guys.....I will have to look up those suggestions down the road. I couldn't resist the Polk Monitor 40's. Ordered them on the 26th and got them today. Thanks Newegg.com.
I will hook them up in a couple weeks, once I set up the new family room addition. Can't wait to hear them....I'm sure they will sound fine for my old ears.
