Folks I just got a denon 2112 and am shopping for speakers. Can someone who has heard both tell me how all of these compare?

The monitor 40 and primius 162 are obviously much cheaper but if I will get a much better sound going with the more expensive ones I probably will regret going on the cheap side

If there are other considerations near these prices please share

I think I will get the bic f12 sub to go with it

Thanks alot

I have Monitor 40's, and Primus 162's. I like the Primus better for surrounds by a wide margin.

As fronts I would still edge the Primus 162's as the winner, mostly because the think the Infinity centers are a bit better than the CS2 that I had. I especially like the PC350 for a center, but I never got around to hearing it. I just have a feeling it would sound a bit better than the CS2 given its extra speakers and overall size.

BUT the RTi A1's are no slouch either and are for sure better than the Monitor 40's. Not sure on the Primus 162's though. They will have a slightly different sound signature so try to give both sets a listen if possible...

    Welcome to Club Polk!

A set of Rtis will not necessarily be more expensive! Look at Polk's ebay site in the above menus where you will find Rti-4s (the previous generation Rti-A1s) and still a good speaker for 150 a pair (shipped)?

Rtis sound pretty good on a Denon AVR (personal experience). Also, Infinity is an acquired taste. Their towers in the Primus series have been compared to Polk's M70s and come out 'muddier' sounding in some reviews.

Although I have not heard the 162s, I'd think the Polk Rtis would have the edge. The only problem there is that the 162s should really be compared to the Rti-A3s since they have a larger mid-woofer driver than the smaller Rti-A1s so they reach a bit lower!

I'd really listen to both speakers. Because Infinity has a very different sound from the Rtis! And I can't really predict your tastes better than you 'know' them.

That would be the Rti-6s...see Polk's Recent and Vintage Products page for more info on them.
