My Klipsch 4Si have served me well with my iphone and for movies on regular trips between Detroit and Singapore. The earbuds are soft and isolate from noise well enough. They deliver decent base and easily can be worn for hours. No need for a big case, they fit right in the laptop bag unlike the big noise canceling headphones.

Koss porta pro 40-50$ they havent been around since 1984 for nothing!! Not noise canceling but sound darn good for the $ PortaPro SRP: $49.99

    Frequency Response 15-25,000 Hz
    Impedance 60 ohms
    Sensitivity 101 dB SPL
    Distortion
    Cord Straight, Dual Entry, 4ft

If you want full size pro4AAA or mv1

In ear I can't help you. I have heard one of the shure's and I cannot rememver what the model was. In a normal room the porta pro was much richer sounding over the shure's I heard but, the noise canceling for loud places came in handy on the shure.
Klipsch The Nines, Audioquest Thunderbird Interconnect, Innuos Zen MK3 W4S recovery, Revolution Audio Labs USB & Ethernet, Border Patrol SE-I, Audioquest Niagara 5000 & Thunder, Cullen Crossover II PC's.

Lol, I have had a lots of different PortaPro's since the mid 80's and continue to buy them as I break them occasionally. It's what I use for my portables now. I'm hoping the new purchases will be a step up.

If they aren't, well I'm only out $100 or so. I do like the sound from the blue little phones.

On a side note to any of the folks that are interested. Earphone Solutions is having a 20% off sale (30 Jun - 8 Jul) Coupon code FIREWORKS.

I enjoy the Sennheiser PX 100 for actual travel and the Alessandro MS1i once I get to my destination. Both do very well out of an iPod.
Don't forget to enjoy the music...
