He was one of the good ones. Met him on a couple occasions and he was always a kind and humble man.

    Rest in Peace.

He will be missed. I love Columbo.

The actor said that the stylist took him to pick his clothes for the shoot and that there were too many stylish outfits already chosen. But he opted for the most rumpled suit he could find, asked somebody from the crew to have it dyed in dirty and dull brown. He then went home and got his hand on a used raincoat he had in his wardrobe.

The same happened when he was to choose the car: he found nothing to his liking in the studio's parking lot. 'Then I saw it way in the back, just its nose - an ugly Peugeot. And it had the perfect touch... a flat tire', the actor said laughing.

LONG before he was Columbo, the man had a way with words.

    Sad indeed.

I loved his demeanor as Columbo. He always let the guilty party go free for 45 min. , then walk up and say, " I had a hunch it was you "or something very similar.

It's fitting if they replay some episodes asap.

He lost an eye to cancer when he was three. It was said that when he was called a strikeout in baseball, he would go over and hand his glass eye to the Ump and tell him, "You need this more than I do."

    A Classic American.

My wife and I own every series of Columbo on DVD. Our favorite. We do Columbo days where we book the day of work and just watch Columbo.

RIP Mr. Falk - you were the BEST detective on TV.

I'm thinking we need a full Columbo day. Like All Day and All Night. Anyone want to look after a 12 year old for 24 hours? Our son likes Columbo, but not a huge fan; like 18 hours straight.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

When I was growing up in Hong Kong during the early 70s, Columbo (or 哥倫布 in Chinese) was a favorite of my parents. Of course, Mr. Falk's voice was dubbed into Cantonese for the local audience, but the character's trademark raincoat and beat-up car need no translating.

Fast forward to today, my mother now has mild dementia and I can see her slipping away. However, during lunch time today, when I called home from work to check on her and told her about the passing of Mr. Falk, she can still recall Columbo.

One of my favorite Peter Falk performances is in a great German movie directed by Wim Wenders, called Wings of Desire. In it he plays himself and he tries to convince an angel (played by the great Bruno Ganz) to become human. He tells him that by becoming a human and being able to feel things the way humans do, such as the sublime qualities of coffee and cigarettes, can he really experience what life can offer.
It's a movie that will require a bit of personal involvement, but well worth the effort.
