Which would be better Monitor 60 or RTIA3's? i have RTI4 as front now with RM8 as surround and would like to upgrade. I'm in Canada and can get Monitor 60's for $399 a pr or RTIA3's for $349. Thanks

Neither. The RTiA3's are the next generation of your RTi4's so your not going to gain much. The Monitor series is a series under your RTi's.

Go with RTi floorstanders if you want to upgrade, or jump into the LSi bookshelves provided you have amplification.

Isn't the RTIA1 the next generation of the RTI4 and not the RTIA3? Just figured towers upfront would be better than the RTI4's I have now.

I started with RTi4s as fronts, then upgraded to RTiA3s.

    Did a comparison awhile back:

If you can get the RTiA3s for a good price, it would be a modest upgrade, imo.

I thought the a3's were bookshelfs, and the towers started out at A5's, A7's, and A9's

    The Monitor 60s are towers.

    The RTiA3s are bookshelves.

There is a *steal* on audiogon for RTiA3s...reputable source

I know the Moniton 60's are towers and RTIA3's are bookshelves, just trying to figure which would be better in a room 14x16. The ones listed on Audiogon are US only and I'm in canada.

If you are in Canada the best deal right now on the RTi line is the RTI 10 at FS for 249$ each and this is a notch up the monitor line .

    RTI 10

+1 to that, don't go down to the Monitor line I don't think you'd be happy. I think the Rti a3's would be an upgrade but not a HUGE one.

What kind of receiver would you suggest running RTI10's, RTI4's , RM8 back rears , and PSW125 sub? I have a Sony Str-710 (7x110 watts) now, would this do it or something a little more powerful? Thanks

You have 2 options buy in store ( more expensive ) or truth out the internet , but whatever you buy get something with Pre-outs

Keep in mind also that several internet sales don`t carry the same warranty like for example pioneer and amazom , but none the less , the best deal that i found on the internet and that they will ship for canada is the pioneer VSX-33 . Its a Elite model that will cost you 568$ , if you buy them in store in canada will cost you 1000$+ .

the '10 is the predicessor to the RTi A7

and to post #11: +2! the '10s & 'A7s like separate amps. I believe the 'A7 traces its lineage to the '10. W/that in mind, w/the 'A7 your amp/receiver will see 4 ohms below 125hz

to the OP & RW: yup!
    ... and not the RTIA3?
The RTi4, like the RTi A1, has a 5 1/4" MW making the 'A3 an upgrade from the RTi4

That receiver will drive your speakers ok but like any other speaker that moves that amount of air , its also better to buy later a amp and you will notice a big improvement in your speakers .
