Yes the DV-47a has the "Chroma Bug," but proper calibration on your TV will go along way toward making it less noticable.

how about the Denon 2800MkII? Basically I'm looking for a good DVD player that is not too much money. I would like to experiment with DVD-A and SACD but it is not that important. I can pick up the Pioneer for $399 and the Denon 2800MKII for $349. These look like good prices but they are both older models. I recently bought the Pioneer 563 and I thought the picture looked horrible. I was watching Saving Private Ryan opening seen and it looked like the was a haze over the picture and "chroma bugs" everywhere. Anybody have some advice for me? Right now I'm running an X-Box for my DVD for god's sake!
    Thaks!

A fellow XBox junkie! I've got the same problems: too much Halo, and I'm watching DVDs on my XBox. I've been poking around for a new source. I want SACD and DVDA (5 channel music rocks! If you haven't heard it, make sure you do before you buy a unit without SACD or DVDA).

I've heard a lot of great things about the Denon 2900. It's a bit more $ than you reference. Check out this review:

You have obviously shopped more than I have. What exactly is a "chroma bug"? I hear about them constantly, but don't know what they are. Is it similar to the "discrete shades of grey" that I see on the XBox?

Also, keep me posted on your quest for a source, I'm not far behind you.

    Thanks,
    Rob

I just got a Pioneer DV45. It plays DVD-A and SACD. List price $700 - I paid $365. Nice player, up to date, and a nice price.

I just got my Denon 2900. This thing is enormous! Haven't hooked it up yet (doing it right now) but to let you guys know I got it at Crutchfield for $849.99 in the scratch and dent section. It showed up today without a mark on it. I also picked up a new Denon 3803 and got 10% making that $899.99. The 2900 comes with a crutchfield warranty that matches the denon warranty. I searched for around 2 weeks online and these were the absolute best prices that I could come up that is an authorized dealer with all the normal warranties. Can't wait to see this thing in action!
