netflixs setup

I'm trying to figure out the best way to play netflixs at the house. I have an old TV so I can't stream it through it. I have an onkyo 708 receiver. I also have an iphone. I'm pretty sure that I can't go through usb from my phone to the receiver and watch it that way but if I could that would be very convenient. I'm thinking that the best way is to get a router on my home computer. I was told that doing a wire connection is best. Is that true? I would like info on which router works best were to buy etc. and any other info that might be helpful.

Linksys is always a good start as far as routers go.

Kinda depends how much you want to spend. I run netflix through my xbox and ps3.

And if you wanna run netflix off your computer TO your tv, the only real way is to run it though an HDMI or RCA cables from your video card on your pc, basically making your tv your monitor.

If I were you, either go out and buy a wii, ps3, or xbox, its cheaper. Or get a newer tv that allows you to stream netflix.

A hundred bucks will buy you an Apple TV. It will not only play Netflix and other movie services but stream music through your stereo as well. All this provided you have a home wireless network, so that would be your first step.

Since you have an iPhone, I would echo the suggestion for an AppleTV. If you keep music on your phone, I think that you will find the Airplay function very convenient. If you have an N wireless network, that should be adequate for NetFlix on the AppleTV (assuming your wireless router is not on the other side of a brick wall or a few floors away).

You can get some video out of the dock connector of your iPhone using the correct cables, but last time I checked NetFlix did not support the video out on iPhone.

"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. You could also buy an inexpensive Blu-Ray player (I have a $140? LG) that also has net apps (Netflix, Vudu, Pandora, Youtube, and others).

To the OP, just be aware all the above solutions have varied outcomes and all don't give you the same quality, ease of use or options.
