I picked up some insulation foam at Home Depot to replace mine. Great speakers. Listening to mine right now!

Does anyone have experience replacing these? I'm wondering whet function they serve. My guess it that they partially seal off one of the upper chambers, but I'm not certain. How important is it to find the same material as a replacement?

Yes, I have replaced the foam damping material in a pair of Monitor 11's. They were the Sonex type foam, not the egg crate foam you have. It's very important to use similar material. You can easily find egg crate foam and it's much cheaper than Sonex. The pieces are glued in place on each side. I forget what glue I used, sorry. The purpose of the foam is to change the driver characteristics, so unlike the Monitor 10's, both drivers aren't producing the same frequencies. Hence, the specific left and right speakers.

Shacky, get the proper material as it makes a difference.

Another member redirected me to your original post from 2011 about the Sonex, where you mentioned extra foam after your restoration. Do you still have any left? I'd like to buy some from you if possible.
