Anyone picking this up tomorrow, has anyone seen it?

I'll be first in line for this blind buy. I love movies like this, pure mind-numbing explosive action. Reviews are very good for the A/V side of the DVD.

Peace Out~:D

Watched it last night and loved it. Great fun. Popcorn movies don't get any better.

The dd track was excellent, very full with excellent use of the surrounds. Bass was top shelf as well (was told by the Misses, our daughter got scared from the bass, on the other side of the house, yeah, I had it loud). Damn hard, clean bass here. The video is also very nice, almost no EE to speak of, very clean transfer with no grain and no video noise.

Just like Armageddon, this one delivers everything a good sci-fi action movie should for the pop-corn crowd.

I had my rig at about -8 under reference and had to back off on the sub a few clicks as the bass was too strong.

As far as surrounds, I can only think of the quiet talking scenes that had no surround usage. All action sequences put the surrounds to great use. The birds, space shuttle, throughout all the core traveling sequences...it was all very enveloping and well balanced across all 5 channels.

That space shuttle sequence might just become my new demo clip.

A good time can be had by watching this movie with a drunk geoscientist. My wife was hilarious during the whole movie screaming "THAT IS CR@P!!!" during some scenes.

Good times, good times... Perhaps I'll buy it just for spite...

I must admit that reading through this thread I thought I was on a different planet with my reaction to the movie... that is until Loud and Clear's post.

First part of the movie was pretty good, I was into it. Right around the "2 months to build machine to get to middle of earth" is when they lost me. It took such a dramatic turn for the worse.

Half the time it felt like the actor's couldn't keep a straight face delivering their lines. The action was absolutely absurd(and not good enough to justify the absurdity).

I didn't make it past the little R&R they decide to take when they get stuck in the middle of the earth. I'd had enough.

Now, I can see why people *might* like the movie, but for me, it was poorly acted, uninventive, completely beyond the realm of possibility(which, is ok, if done right, but it wasn't here...).

I'm strongly considering an official stand against all natural disaster movies. They just don't work out for me...

One natural disaster movie that I think still holds up pretty good by even today's standards is The Poseidon Adventure. Good actors, acting and special effects that, for its day, were pretty impressive. I like it so much I bought it at Wal-Mart for $5! And, the picture is superb even though the sound needed to be remastered.

Looks like I had to go back in time a bit to remember a good one, eh?
