Karma needed for my cat Chloe.....

Had to take Chloe the cat to the emergency room last night. She had been listless all day, standing kind of hunched over alot, or laying on her side, which she hardly ever does. No appetite to speak of, pupils were dilated also all day. We have two flights of stairs going to the 2nd floor and she would walk up the first set and then sit for abit and then walk up the 2nd set, not good.

Brought her into the emergency vet and they said her heart is making strange noises and her ekg was abnormal. So at midnight last night we made the trip up to Seattle to the one of only two animal cardiologists in the state when they will run tests and try and find out what's going on. Got home at 4am.

It's pretty tough as I have had her since she was a kitten, 17 years ago. Part of the family. So please send a bunch of healing thoughts her way, my way and my wife's way...we all need it!!

Thanks!

Best of luck to your Chloe!!

We've got a Chloe at home too. Quite a girl! She sits sometimes with her tongue showing some too, just like in your pic.

Hope the best for Chloe! She's sure to be quite a companion!

Maine Coons are truly amazing animals. I never cried over the loss of a cat like I did when I put my 'Coon down 4 years ago. She was 19....

I hope things work out for you and the kitty. My wife and I had a very similar experience with our cat Jeepers yesterday. He had become very skinny and had no energy lately so we took him in to find out that his kidneys had stopped functioning with no chance of recovery. We put him to sleep yesterday which was one of the hardest things I've had to do. He was my best friend and the best cat I've encountered.

Looks like she is going to be ok. Apparently she ingested something she found on the floor and thats what caused her irregular heartbeat and rhythm. So, will be cleaning the floor every day from now on. She still had not eaten at the cardiologist's place but when we got her back home the first place she went was to sit in front of her food dish:biggrin:

So, $1800.00 later and she is ok...well worth the cost and the lesson learned on watching what you drop on the floor!

    That is wonderful news.

    Grim,
I am so sorry to hear about Jeepers. When I chimed in earlier I didn't want to be a discouragement to anyone. This past weekend we had to put our cat Snowball to sleep due to kidney failure also. Snowball was only 5 and a beautiful white short-hair and the beloved pet of my 9 year-old son. To top it off, today my son's guinea pig died. He only had her for a month but was already very attached especially after loosing Snowball. How much grief can a young man take?
My thoughts are with you and your wife,
    Stan

Never understood anyone who could have a kitten or puppy, live with it for years, and then see it get sick or old and be like, meh, its just an animal.

Dont get me wrong, no tax money for no kill shelters, only private donors and volunteers, kids come first.

But, animals can become like your kids, and it can be wonderful and painful parts of life.

Good luck and god bless to anyone who choose to try to take care of strays.
