    Hi all.

Got my two new 194's yesterday. Put them in, got rid of the ground bridge on the Gfa-5500 and there is now way I will even consider selling these speakers. Thanks to one of darquenights posts on this group that said I wasn't supposed to bridge the grounds with the 1c's. I admit, I am humble. They sound great now. I took some money, sold my Thorens 166 mk II on eBay and ordered a Rega P3-24 to use with my new AT 150 mlx cartridge. Thanks you guys..

    I love happy endings.
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

After checking the average price on Ebay for 2 years on the 1C's it came to 480 excluding shipping, in very good condition. On Craigslist, depending where you live, I have seen them anywhere fron 220 to 600. I was looking into them fo a while and still have a pair of 2A's but now, I am going to buy a new pair of Vandersteens........

How did you get 2 years worth of history off of eBay? All I can get off their "advanced search" is just very recent sales history.

    Thanks.

My advice is do a search for threads started by DarqueNight. You'll find more than enough reading to keep you happy.

Btw, there's really not much to replacing the pin/blade style interconnect. The blade is not a conductor, it's just sorted to ground. Pull the connector from the pin, mount a single speaker binding post on the xo plate, attach the connector from the pin, and use speaker wire of your choice.

    Glad you dig it!

I always think about swapping out my 198's for the 194's. I really like the 194's when they were in. Has anybody done any comparisons?

The 198s are much smoother and have more extension than the 194s to my ear. But to do that also requires modifying the crossover.

They gotta make these again for sure. These are amazing with the crossover upgrades I did.

Glad you're enjoying them. Try them with some tube gear someday. Your ears will thank you even more. :)
