Speaker Stands

Got the speakers in, but now I have a new problem. Unsafe speaker stands for my daughter.

Besides taking obvious precautions like keeping her away from them, I'd like to hear more ideas from those of you who have kiddos. I'm thinking even heavier duty stands that mount to the speaker because the Paradigms have mounting holes on their bottom sides. Or, new TV stand to put them on? I'd prefer safety over sonics in this situation so I'm open to all thoughts.

Thanks in advance!

Stands you can load with shot or sand will be much sturdier, you still need to figure a way to keep the speakers from falling off the stands and hurting a little one. That's the numero uno problem with bookies and stands..........they aren't all that kid friendly. I would avoid **** the speaker to the stand if at all possible. Having them directly coupled to the stands is never a good idea sonically.

The other issue is really nice, sturdy stands that can take led shot or sand are very expensive. I know people that spent more on stands than the actual speakers. This is what you may find in your case.

Maybe you could change out the child for an older, more responsible one of an older age?

Not that you'll listen, but.....Sanus Ultimate's are the perfect answer to your stand issues.

I can't tell if your stands are tubular but if they are fill them with lead shot and but Blue Tac between the speaker and stand. I have a pair of stands with three tubes and they weigh over 50lbs filled with shot. I think they were made by Paradigm and I paid just over $100 for the pair. B&W made their 805 Nautilus speakers so that they could be bolted to the B$W stands.

I had found a nice pair of B&W stands on CL for $45. Really solid and look great too. I think they are the D61S model and Best Buy has them for $100 on their website.

I to have found the subs and bookshelves sound better than stand alone speakers , so I ended up with the tv in the cornor on the lrft side of the tv the satalite sits on the fireplace mantle and on the right is a subwoofer with the satalite attached to it .
I have kids so I had to make it safe and solid , I wish a heavy stand was safe but that can still easily get pulled over by a kid , then you will get damage you dont want .
I had to remove my prized polk ls50's from the living room becuse there was no safe way to mount them w/out damage to the cabinets , if you have kids you will have to make many comprimises .

Good stuff guys. Taking all things into consideration. Right now I think coupling the speakers to heavy stands with a big base to prevent tipping over is going to be the best option.
