OPPO BDP-83 Blu-Ray Player - Price: $335 shipped
This is the BDP-83 hailed as one of the best Blu-Ray players out there, especially considering the $499 price tag. I made the move to the BDP-93, so this has to go.
Condition:
I am the original owner of this unit. It is in very good condition but not without blemish. There are a few tiny chinks in the armor, and example of which is shown in the last picture below. The top also seems to be impossible to clean perfectly as each time I do the paper towel leaves a light white residue. Most importantly the face place is without issue.
Functionality wise it is perfect, never had an issue with this player and it had the most recent firmware when last used in March.
Terms:
Accepting Paypal gift or USPS money order, regular paypal add 1.5%. Will be shipped double boxed and comes with the Oppo BDP-83, original packaging, remote, manual, and cables. I have feedback on Head-Fi, here and on Audiogon. For sale in the US only.

I use the CAT5 connection to install the firmware updates. It also allows you to to get on with BD-Live, NetFlix, etc., but I don't play with those things.Gears shared to both living room & bedroom:

No Netflix on 83. That's a 93/95 feature. On 83/83se, network is strictly for updating and bd-live.Panasonic PT-AE4000U projector for movies

I suppose having a player that also streamed blueray or dvd rips from a network hard drive would be too much to ask for, eh?Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

Got a setup question regarding your Oppo. Could I run it to my Denon via HDMI (for movies) and then run analogs from it to a tube integrate for music?? Anyone know if that's possible?Denon 4311ci

Thanks for the outpouring guys, much appreciated. Got some interest on this, will update once sold.
As for the ?s:What does the Cat5 network connection allow it to do?
As was stated above, updates and BD-Live...at least that is all I used it for.I suppose having a player that also streamed blueray or dvd rips from a network hard drive would be too much to ask for, eh?
The BDP-93 can do this...but not well. I tried getting it to work but it was to frustrating, plus from reports online the video quality isn't the best so I threw in the towel and just bought a external HD to hook directly up to the 93. That had some growing pains to, but its working fine now.Got a setup question regarding your Oppo. I run HDMI to the TV and Analog out to my pre/pro for audio. The analog output should always be on, and the HDMI output you choose if it is on or off. -
I use the BDP-93 to stream video from my network and havn't found any issues with video quality. However, Windows Media Player has an issue streaming .MKV files which is a pain. I am looking at getting an external drive to either plug directly to my Oppo or my router."They're always talking about my drinking, but never mention my thirst" Oscar Wilde

MKV was exactly what I was trying to get it to do, good to know it works w/ other formats. External drive works well if you get the right drive, I got a A-DATA 500gb for ~$50 w/ USB 3.0. Works great, some hiccups in the beginning but gtg now. -
