Hi all,

I am looking for good wires for my RTIA9`s and FXIA6`s, nothing "ultra-special" but good ones WITH TERMINATION.

Any recommendations on models and where to buy ? I am in Canada;

Thanks,

Mongo

I've use the BJC Ten White (5T00UP) (White jacket, 10 AWG) and the Belden 5000UE (Gray jacket, 12 AWG) and have been happy with both.

Can't comment on their termination as I've bought it "raw" and terminated it myself, but I'm sure they are high quality.

IMO, the best deal right now is on MIT EXp 2 cable...75% off and the banana plugs are fantastic.

Do a Google search for MIT Cable express. I have them connected to my LSi 9's and they sound great.

Nope they fit just fine, I use the MIT Exp 2's and like them a lot, especially for the price. If not i'd go Canare 4s9's and buy banana plugs/spades and terminate yourself.

    They fit perfect...

For the price of the "B-Stock", you're hard pressed to beat them.

Didn't realize they still had them for 75% off.

Ignore my previous suggestion and go with these. I bought 3 pair and for the price they are tough to beat.

Well, I am in Canada, I do not believe that much that the model that they sell here is different from the model they offer in USA, but the manual of my POLK speakers says that "Banana connections are only available in USA models".

I've loosen the plastic terminals completely, they don`t get out and I can`t see a banana connection, please does your model have a visible banana plug ?

    Thanks,

You are correct that those sold outside the US don't have banana compatible posts. This is due to the spacing being too similar to the Euro standard for AC connection. Speakers don't take kindly to high AC voltages.

Maybe there are removable plastic plugs in the center of the binding posts? These types of plugs are required by the CE standards in Europe on binding posts with 3/4" spacing, so I assume they would be including on any US speaker product leaving their borders.

Well, there are plastic pieces, but they don`t look removable at all.

Then maybe they use different binding posts for export models instead of just inserting plastic plugs.

I could bet that the "Canada" model is the USA one, but maybe I'm wrong; banana plugs do not fit in mine.

One would think so since it wouldn't be an issue in Canada either but for simplicity maybe they just include the non banana type posts for all export markets.

Did you unscrew the plastic nuts all the way? The plastic plugs should simply fall out when you do.

If they don't take banana plugs, then MIT also sells spades that go right on the wires also.

I would just call MIT Express and ask them if they can send out spades in place of the banana plugs for the speaker connections.

I just rewired my home and had a couple of issues.

    (1) Amazon sucks. the speaker wires listed as 12 gauge wires are really 12/2 or aproximately 14 guage wires. they were also poorly constructed.

    (2) I emailed a couple of other companies asking them the specific specks of their wires and Blue Jean Cables responded quickly. A couple of the other companies never responded.

    (3) The cost of wires varries vastly and the quality between them is not significant if you order good quality wires from a reputable company. I paid $0.62 per foot, which was more than Amazon, but the quality is far better, and the amazon wire I ordered was a complete waste of time and money.

I ordered from Blue Jean Cables and am happy I did. the wires were of high quality and sound great.

OK, Polk Audio has replied to my message, it looks like I have to use a screwdriver to actually BREAK the center plastic piece, and I'll see the banana plugs.

With that in mind, and considering that I prefer to avoid importation taxes and not order from the US, what do you think of this ?
