HT finally, but need a new source

Well, I finally have a HT setup. I picked up an LSiC and a pair of LSi7s for surrounds on Thursday to go with my LSi15s and my new Rotel RSX-1065. I bi-wired the center with Monster XP (same as the LSi15s). I wired the surrounds with 14 AWG ProSound oxygen free wire (I went with 14 gauge since I'm running 40' of wire to each surround). I also picked up some banana plugs for connections to my receiver (Rockford Fosgate) - holds much better than bare wire. Sounds great!
Next on my list, a PS-404 sub and a new source. Does anyone have any pearls of wisdom on a source? I want a progressive scan DVD player that will play DVDA or SACD (or both). I was looking at the Sony DVP-NC685V, but I'm not sure if it has bass management. Do I need bass management on the source for direct 5.1 input?
Thanks,
Rob

Heya Rob....
System is lookin good. I think that you're talking about getting the Polk 404 sub, but I'd suggest you wait. The Polk subs notoriously lack the characteristics that a sub should.
For your source, do you have a price point that you're looking at staying at? We could all suggest that you go out and get a 3k player but probably not what you're lookin to spend.....If it's around the 1k mark, then the Denon 2900 will play both DVDA and SACD and does have bass management(if I remember correctly from Doc's review). Do a search in the electronics section and you'll see a few write-ups about it.
Good luck, and let us know what you decide.....comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -

Rob,
sounds like a great system in the making, congrats! You won't be dissapointed. I agree with Brett, Denon 2900 would be a great universal player for you, step up to it, would be Marantz 8400 (street price at $1,200-$1,300) which has HDAM for superb analog processing. I think Greg (gshisme) still has the Yamaha 2300 available. The price is great and is also a superb unit. Another one would be Pioneer Elite 47i. Btw, the tuner on 1065 is awesome, if you get decent strength signal. It can sound as good as redbook, imo. Have fun setting them up, you have a killer setup!I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.
