Aside from 2 discrepancies within the interior, the car is in mint-shape!

SNV13979.jpg

My only problem with it is, I believe the car uses 5 1/4" speakers up front. This sucks because I have SR6500 components and they're 6 1/2" speakers. Guess those will sit in the closet for awhile.

I was thinking that....hell I might even take the dremel to the stock speakers themselves because it's equipped with a factory BOSE system!

Oh hell no lol the SR's are too bad-**** of a speaker to get rid of.

Yeah, I am thinking my next car might have a set of them up front. Lord knows I love my db6501's so I can only imagine how nice the SR's sound.

Only thing stopping me from doing them in my Jetta is that I need a component set and those are just waaaayyyyy to much for me (new that is lol)....

You can tell it's a LT1 car from the "salad shooter" style wheels.

If I remember correctly, you can fiberglass a mold for 6.5s. I dont think the speakers are mounted in the doors themselves, but rather in a plastic housing bolted to the door.

    Thanks!

I had a choice between several others however the rest of them were modified/high-mileage/alot of owners.

This one is bone-stock and had 1 owner for 99% of its life. The owner I bought it from (second owner) had it for a short while and couldn't keep it (WAF/kids/multiple cars). This thing was well-taken care of and it shows!

    I bought mine used!

I recall seeing a set of 'new' SR6500's on the 'bay. They had time left before the bidding ended but last time I saw them they had reached $970!

Ha yeah I already knew that before purchasing it.

I've been pulled over only twice in my life and didn't even get ticketed for it.

I was looking at the LS1 for awhile but I wanted to stay within budget and get what I was looking for.

They should come with 6.75" front speakers. Not sure where you got the 5.25" from, but I could be wrong. If you ever need any tips on the install let me know. I've ripped my '98 interior apart so many times I could do it blindfolded. The only issue with the speaker locations is that they are about 2" behind the grille and the door panel blocks them. You will also need to make some brackets for the SR's as the one that comes w/ them is crap (and doesn't fit). Cody is right about the housing they are in.

Get used to stopping for ANY speedbump. They sure don't like anything but a level road.

Think I read that somewhere but I could be wrong.

And yeah I know how that is with speedbumps/inclines. I'm used to that and even on the stock suspension, I don't like to abuse it.

Do they even make the SR6500 anymore or just the 5 1/4 version?

Neither are still made AFAIK. The 6500 sold on the new market quicker than the 5250s did, so I could see where you got the confusion.

Gotcha, Crutchfield still lists the 5 1/4 (but out of stock right now) hence me being confused lol...

So whats Polk top of the line car speaker now? Is it the MM's?

I'll use the 6500's then still, would hate for them to go to waste.

I uninstalled all my gear that's listed in my sig from the PT and plan to use most if not all of it in my Z28. I'll have to fabricate a different type of box though that'll give me the cubic footage required for the sub.
