Speaker cable reco needed to help tame bass

A few months ago I finished a 2B TL upgrade, and for the most part, I love it. But with the more laid back RD0-198's and the better binding posts and crossover components the balance of the speaker has shifted a good bit toward the bass end of the spectrum. On some material, the bass seems boomy and washes out the higher frequencies.
I've tried the obvious things like moving them farther away from the wall (which helped) and going back and forth between spikes on pads on hardwood and the stock plastic feet (didn't make a significant difference but I like the spikes for the extra elevation).
One thing that I have noticed makes a fairly substantial difference is the speaker cable. So far I've got stuff in the $75 and cheaper range. The MIT Exp3's are good but have the most noticably boomy bass. I have some garden hose cable with a teflon dielectric in the center that has less of everything, less boomy bass, but also less mid to upper detail. I have some BJC 12-white that's sorta middle of the road.
I was considering trying some Mapleshade Golden Helix since they specifically advertise that it keeps the bass in check. I've seen other threads where members have mentioned the weaker bass as a strike against them. Does anyone else have any other recommendations for speaker cables that will do a good job of retaining detail at the high end while taming the booming bass?
