ebay purchase advice please

found some infinity crescendos that seem to be in nice shape, except for apparently universal surround rot issues i will handle.
Question, he is ebay seller, a little over a year, 39 reviews, all positive, takes different types of credit cards, and paypal, but warned if im not already a paypaler, would be somewhat of a hassle to get setup for one transaction, but up to me.
Question, should i sign up for paypal, for the escrow aspect, does it cost to be a buyer with paypal? and is it going to delay process a lot?
I can use a credit card that has no balance on it, so tracking any funny stuff would be easy, and could appeal any possible bs charges.
never bought anything on ebay, and after recent cp sale, sorta have a bad taste in mouth, and apprehensive buying over internet, but, damn, this guy is selling cheap, has agreed to send more pics, and i now know ship insurance is cheap.
Any help is appreciated.

I would use paypal for buyer protection. It is free, you can tie your credit card to it and it will actually make the transaction go faster.

If it weren't for PayPal, I doubt seriously I'd buy anything on eBay.

he's a seller and only 3 sales a month, with a lot of requirements? i don't like it...something that big and not physically inspected, go w CL...if, on the other hand, he had 5 years and 1000+ positives, then maybe...just my 2
