That does seem like a lot but they did retail for $800 when new so this isnt that far of a stretch I dont reckon.

Don't look now, but a brand new set of SR6500 speakers from a different seller just sold for a "Buy It Now" price of $1,000!

These went for half of retail on ebay back in the day.

They are becoming much sought after.

People are paying for more than retail!

I have never seen anything like it that I can remember.

Can you post a link to the auction where they were sold for buy it now $1,000?
I honestly find it hard to believe. There was a guy about 2 months ago trying to sell his brand new/still in box and plastic for the longest. Literally re-listing them like 5 times, maybe more. Price was in $700s first, then lowered to low $600. Not sure if someone got them for that price but he stopped listing it.

You can also find it by going to ebay and searching for SR6500. The left of the screen will have an option to show "Completed Listings". Here's the link:

I don't think I've seen discontinued electronic equipment go for more than retail before, although I imagine there are some examples.

I like my deal better. I recently got a set of used (but good condition) SR5250's off eBay for $222 shipped. I went with the 5250's because they were cheaper, and I already have a sub in my car. At any rate, these are by far the best sounding car speakers I've heard; very impressed!

Perhaps that's a sign Polk should tool up for another production run ;).

Install one pair, chances are you'll wind up keeping the second as a back up .
