I just scored some LSi 9's on my local craigslist. $350 for the pair!
I pick them up tomorrow and from the pictures they look PERFECT.
Now I need to settle on some stands...
Any input from you guys? I have heard anything from 26" stands are perfect to 30" stands...
I'm leaning heavily toward making my own stands, I don't want to make them and regret the size. So any input is helpful so I can settle on a size.
I also just got my "B-Stock" MIT EXp 2 wires in today... It's been a good day for me!

You want the tweeters at ear height."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

Congrats! I've only had mine a few days, and I'm loving them so far. I just ordered the 28" pair of Pangea DS03's off of Amazon for 109.99 with free shipping. From the shopping I've done seems to be a good fit, right height, and quality build. I just need to find some cheep spike discs now... Check out my thread about the pangeas and some others are mentioned in there, some good looking ones from standandmounts.com as well. Good luck.
Oh and, BTW, it seems like 28" to 30" for the 9's would be the best fit by my guess, in most applications. The tweeter is 8" above the bottom of the speaker, if that helps. -
The 9's are an excellent speaker. Great price too.
What are you powering them with? They love LOTS of juice.

Congrats on the score - great speakers! :biggrin:HT

Great purchase Enjoy them. People will tell you that you need a separate
amp. People will tell you that you need a crossover up-grade. You will hear that they are vailed if you are not running 200 watts @ 8 ohms.
all of this may be true, but this can not stop you from enjoying the speakers NOW.
Enjoy what you have. It is better that what people tell you they can sound like. I am not telling you that these other options might not be better, but do not miss the present with these speakers. Can sound better is ok, but what you hear now should not be influenced by that. listen and enjoy.Equipment

I fully plan on enjoying them now.
For the time, I'm going to run them off of my HK 3490 till I can jump into the seperates game. I will be running them at fairly tame volumes most of the time anyway (sleeping 6 month old wins).
I feel very confident that the 3490 can supply what I need for now. -

Yes they are...
I can't justify spending more on stands than my speakers though. -
I got them home this morning and I set them up.
WOW! I'm in love with the LSi series right now...
I always felt that my M70's had great imaging, the 9's just blow them away! Just an immersive sound that the M70's never produced. The vocals are also far more forward, and I like that a lot. The bass is nice and tight, in my office my M70's just became too boomy and the LSi cleaned that up really nice. -
Hey Max,
Nice score. That HK can fire them up, but you 'will' need more power to hear what those babies can do. I've run my LSI-7s off that same receiver, and they are less power hungry. But even the 7s benefited from 200 8 ohms/325 4 ohms x 2 separates. Essentially, the HK won't have the power to do the 'bass' justice and give you a more detailed top end. But it'll be OK.
AWALLER...though, is definitely right! Enjoy what you have and then decide for 'yourself'!
Congrats. Personally, I've heard 9s and 7s and all the 9s have is more authority on the low end. Otherwise I don't see much difference in musical sound quality?
Enjoy!

yeah, gotta love the LSI's for imaging. Acoustic and live stuff sounds extra nice (IMHO).

Wow, killer deal. Congrats!
And, here I was thinking that I thought I got a good deal for $550 shipped for LSi9's. I got mine from fleabay and they should be here Friday. They will be replacing the LSi7's that I have up front, and I will move the LSi7's to my side surround speakers.
Now, I just need a single LSi7 to go with an orphan that I have. At that point I will have a good set of rear surrounds to complete my 7.1 setup. -

Do you just frequent craigslist looking for deals? Or was this a lucky catch?

Wow - lucky you.
Will you use them primarily for music or HT? -
Strictly music... I'm working on building a decent 2ch system.

The 30" ones are what I use for my LSi9s. In my case, just filled 'em w/ sand. They're pretty solid.ALL BOXED UP for a while until I save up for a new place

Do you remember how much sand was required?
Just out of curiosity... Did you hear a difference in sound pre and post sand filling? (speaker sound, of course)
