Description

Up for sale is my Benchmark DAC1. This is the original version, has received many rave reviews and awards, and is a great way to get your feet wet with a quality external DAC. This unit can be used as a standalone DAC, top-rated headphone amp, or a DAC + pre-amp to drive your amplifier using the manual volume control knob on the front (sorry, no remote control with this version!).

I would rate this unit as a 9/10 due to age and a very small mark on the rack mount post (refer to picture below for a close-up). I really struggled to find any flaws with this unit and it has performed flawlessly for me since day one.

    In the words of Stereophile "The Benchmarks measured performance is about as good as it gets, at any price."

    This DAC is a no-brainer at it's retail price, for $625, you'd be foolish to look at anything else. Want to give your CD player an instant facelift? Plug it into a DAC1.

    Is this the Dac 1 pre? You mentioned it can be used as a dac and a pre-amp
    If so, I may be interested. Is it black or silver

    Its both. Most Pre's can be used as Dac's, but not all Dac's can be used as pre's.

    You can run digital to it and then run analog out of it to something else.....

    There is a different model called the DAC 1 Pre that has more digital inputs and a set of analog inputs. This isn't that. Probably best to let the seller answer these types of questions, but since a wrong answer was already given...

    I have a DAC 1 also (this same model). I love it, but it can't be used as a pre-amp/volume control for a separate analog source.

    That's a pretty killer price, wow.
    CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
