Two sources into 5.1 channel inputs

Hello all,
I am currently sending the left and right channel from my phono preamp to the front 5.1 channel inputs on my Outlaw 1050 AVR. I am doing this to avoid digitizing the analog signal which occurs when using the AUX input. I now have a Blu-Ray player with 5.1 channel analog outputs which I also want to connect to the same 5.1 channel inputs (I also have a CS400i on the way). Then I can take advantage of the BR audio features. Can I do this with an RCA female to male splitter so that the front channels have two inputs? Is there any risk of damage to the Outlaw 1050 if it gets two signals at once? Or should I get a switch? If a switch, can anyone recommend a reasonably priced one?
Regards,
Jim

I don't get what you mean by 2 signals at once. One is a phono pre and the other a BDP, you wouldn't be using both at the same time. I see you also have the psw 10 sub, for the dynamic soundtracks of bluray, you may be feeling a tad short on the low end. Seems like a new receiver is up your alley as your pushing the limits and connectivity of the outlaw. Another option is to hook up the phono to a zone 2 input if you have one and leave the bdp to the 5.1 inputs.HT SYSTEM-

Thanks, tonyb.
Of course I would not intentionally play the two sources at once, but might accidentally do so. Is there any harm in this?
You are right about the PSW10. It is due for replacement, but not for a while. Likewise, the Outlaw 1050 lacks an analog pass through on any but the 5.1 inputs so it is also on my replacement list.
Another option I have would be to run both the Outlaw 1050 preouts and the NAD preamp outputs to the Parasound amp, with a switch at that point. That would, I think, shorten the signal path for the phono but I would lose the remote volume control.

Does anyone have any experience with Niles switches? The PS-1 (~$80)looks like what I would need. Probably a cut above the $18 Radio Shack model, not so?

Could be time for an upgrade to an AVR that has a Pure Direct mode so you don't have to use funky switches or cable adapters.
Perfect excuse to justify an upgrade!

You are right, Erik, but that is another year or two into the future.5.1 System:
