Frozen Driver Repair...

Hi,
I recently bought a set of SDA-2's (rather "stole" them as they were $45) and they had the infamous "frozen" drivers. I was able to easily repair the two drivers - model MW6501 and have been running them trouble free for the last week now.
I am curious to find out if there is any interest in members sending me their frozen drivers for repair. I suppose a lot of people probably just replace the faulty speakers but it would be nice to "recycle" the old ones if they can be saved.
I'm not sure what a fair price would be to repair these but I thought I would see if there was any interest first. This obviously would only apply to frozen drivers - not drivers with burnt voice coils, damaged suspension/surround etc...
Any interest?

I would just do them as a exchage basis for about $20 each (they pay all shipping) .
Build up stock and if the drivers send you are not repairable charge a core fee .
Warrenty them to what you think is best .
did your repair require parts ?
if so add that $ amount to it .
good luck
PS there is a lot of people who want the older polk drivers, just look sat ebay . -
There should be no implied warranty on the actual repair.
Beings the member is assuming the cost of shipping, there should be no charge unless the driver is actually repaired. There's no reason for you to receive funds for a perceived repair, which historically has failed 100 to 1, as others have jigged and rigged fixes for them as well.
Most of them will ultimately fail, even after being "repaired" since the driver integrity has been compromised but that's just my opinion. There's no need for me to be a downer as Gavin has been gracious enough to offer his services to our membership...so in that case, rock on.
It's a great offer Gavin and good luck in whatever you end up doing.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Good God...... I've created a Monster! JK, go for it if you want the headache!

hmm - sounds like it might be difficult to make this happen. i'm going to hold off for now, hopefully my repaired 6501's will hold up over the long term. Thanks for the feedback guys.
