Tell your friends, this is important...

Open your speakers and make sure your positive wire that goes to your tweeter is not placed between two resistors. You are being robbed of enjoying your speakers. This is s@#$$y.

You need to move the wire to BEFORE the resistor - between the inductor and the resistor...

That is all, thanks

I thought this would be more of a return to sender type headline....oh well.

Honestly if you own a set of speakers that has this wiring configuration you should return it to Ty. It chokes off the tweeter like a one year old baby and a plastic bag!

It is like lifting a veil off the speakers. I tell ya what though I love the sound of Seas drivers - this is for sure.

Is this a tweak or assembly error?

It is a crossover design for some Taylo speakers I believe to mellow out the highs. I dont think this is an assembly error.

I have only seen it in speakers from his earlier designs.

Also this is not a "knock" on Tyler Acoustics - this is just a FYI that some of his earlier stuff had this design and it should be changed and it was changed later in his designs.

    100%

Move that wire towards the capacitor.

It also may work changing out the 6 ohm resistor - the resistor that is between the wire and the inductor to a smaller value if simply putting the wire before the resistor is to hot for you. But at 6 ohm that resistor basically suffocates that tweeter...

Keep in mind, Trey does like it a little hot. Not that it's bad but folks should realize this before they go **** around with things. You can also play around with the value a bit to find the flavor of your liking, if you choose too.

    I will not argue that

But this configuration is exactly like the Linbrook.

Where Trey is concerned, I'd call it ear bleeding.

I consider what I hear to be an accurate reproduction. I work in a music store.

Instruments dont sound "warm" - infact quite the opposite, instruments are bright and dynamic... not... mush.

But hey - what can you do?

Does this go for the Linbrook Signature System as well?

Also, I'm confused... was this a wiring mistake on Ty's part or do you just like how it sounds better?

From the looks of it -t his is the crossover design for the Taylo series...

The Linbrooks should be the configuration I am suggesting

I was listening to the monitors last night that I recently rewired and they sound phenomenal, plain and simple. I even have a buddy who is fresh into audio comment they are way better than the other pair I had (He did not hear them modified)...

Now I would be interested in hearing your thoughts if you do think moving the wire makes them bright how you like putting smaller values in place of the 6 ohm.

Also you need to upgrade the 9 ohm that Ty used as a 10 watt to a 20 watt.

thank you sir. i've been reading other threads regarding crossover upgrades for Tyler acoustics. unfortunately (maybe i'm better off) i have zero experience with crossovers, soldering etc. are you familiar with the Linbrook IIs?
