Trying to track down a copy of the re-mastered re-release of the much maligned Gladiator Blu-Ray movie released in 2009 (the Gladiator 10th Anniversary Edition... I believe... was released in Germany in 2010???)

At any rate, this is the only link I can find when googling it:

http://www.grooves-inc.com/derek-oliver-reed-jacobi-david-hemmings-gladiator-10th-anniversary-universal-pictures-germany-gmbh-blu-ray-disc-pZZa1-688233951.html

Anyone know if this move works in US? Is it in English???

Any advice would be great.

thanks,
27

I don't know about that 10th anniversary one, but the original Sapphire Series Blu-ray was quietly replaced by Paramount because of the poor reviews. Most of them in retail channels should be the remastered version. Seems like it has been pretty safe to order from Amazon, since their stock should all be the remastered one. In the U.S., it seems like the remasters have had a yellow UPC code on the box, so if you buy in a store, look for that. They did the same thing when they replaced Saving Private Ryan due to an audio issue - identical cover art but with a yellow UPC code.

Even if you get the old busted version, it doesn't take much to send it in for a replacement. See http://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-movies-north-america/149851-gladiator-remastered-exchange-program-thread.html

    Gottcha.

I wasn't sure if the amazon version was the release because it still says "2009" in the description.

    I'll give it a shot.

    Thanks!

If you get a white UPC don't bother opening it, just return it.

Actually, some of the white UPCs are still the remaster... but if I recall correctly, what you have to look for on those is if the "2-disc" label is removed on the slipcover. The thread I posted earlier has more details on how to find the updated version.
