I quit smoking!

The problem being it was on Jan. 7th. I haven't cheated once but still crave tobacco daily. I was a pipe smoker and I think I miss the ritual as much as the nicotine. I thought it would be easier than this.

Hang in there, it takes a good year or two smoke free before you really don't think much about it.

I stop smoking about 5 years ago, after smoking for 35 years. At $10. a day, thats how i pay for all my Home Theater stuff. It does get better, after awhile the cravings go away. Just think of all the Polk stuff you can buy.

Good job. It is very difficult to shake an addiction. Not a 'habit' as the deniers like to say.

I realized I had finally become free when I could drink without craving a cigarette. Hang in there. It is worth it to be in control of your body.

Congrats!! As of today, it's been 2 years, 3 months & 25 days since I've had so much as a puff from a cigarette. I started when I was 15 and I smoked for 19 years.

Stay strong. Except for rare cravings that pass within seconds, I don't miss it at all!

Dang Bill, no wonder you employ quad Empires, you need something to shake the crap from your lungs

I didn't smoke that long and was pretty easy to quit. I chewed Copenhagen for 22 years, made three different attempts to quit. I have been tobacco free for 13 years. Like the OP, I still miss the ritual, packing, pinching and spitting.

I still think about it from time to time and sniff the guys cans that do it at work, but no chewing for me.

It has been 8 1/2 months for me. I am a chef so it was not fun to be around me during work that first week! I smoked for 15 years and can say I haven't had cravings for a couple months and definitley don't miss the smelly clothes. Congrats and keep it up!

I doubt I could have quit if not forced by my surgery. I had a spinal implant done and nicotine can **** the bone growth around the titanium. Makes you wonder what other nasty things nicotine does.

That's the same reason I quit. Cervical spinal fusion w/implant of C5/6 and C6/7. Mine is fused now, or so they tell me. Still suffer from neck pain, but at least my arm isn't partially paralyzed anymore, and all the strength came back. Never really thought about quitting before that.

    Good luck with the recovery.

    Stay off those things!!

Wife & I are quitters....I think it starts as a habit & soon becomes an addiction. These days I really don't see how you can actually enjoy smoking with all the known health hazards and the social persecution.
