I had a set of Allison acoustic al115 when I was in high school and smoked the tweeters. well I just picked up new tweets and hooked them up and they are very bright. now the hard choice is to use them or my monitor 60s.

Some tweeters are known to settle down a bit after you break them in for a period of time, so you might want to have a bit of patience. If you absolutely can't stand it, then your ears have become accustomed to the sound of the Polks. If that is the case, I would lose the Allisons.
You may also want to play around with different IC combinations or tube rolling, if you are into that kind of thing.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
they sound great! it's just a different sound, with no sweet spot!

Well, if that's the case? Give 'em some time. Both of them. Swap back and forth every once in a while [after the Allison's break in] and see which set does your ears justice with the widest variety of music you enjoy.
Just be sure to have some audio fun in the meantime.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
neighbors probably aren't happy already.

Friendly advice. If you get them involved in listening and you show your enthusiasm toward music, it tends to get some slack cut your way. At least that's been the case with every place I have lived. Heck, one neighbor got to telling me to turn it up to where she could hear it. I had no problem obliging her request.
Just don't abuse it, respect quiet hours, don't shake the neighborhood and all should be good. Enjoy the music.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
I try to check to see if they are home before I play it too loud.

I am going to have to agree with you on this. When I picked up my jm labs 815, I at first thought omg they are just so in your face and way to bright but, the longer i listened to them, I never once got fatigued. They more I played with them, and placement, and cables, the detail on them are ( for their size) is fantastic.
Besides what was said here, what type of IC and speaker cables are you using? For me, Ben's silvers loved my carver amazing, and played nicely with my vandersteen 2ce and polk 1.2's but, on the jm labs, it was not a good match. I swapped them out for some mit's avt IC's and that put them in their place. If you have any other speaker or IC cables to try out, they just might be a little sensitive to what you might be using.
