Doesn't say if it is going to be shm or not but, this might be a good thing!

Those are going to have to be a spectacular remaster to warrant that kind of a price

I'd have to agree with you on that one! -
It will depend to me if it is shm they run 30-45 a disk anyway. so this basically boils down to 30 a disk Mofi prices are close to this also. ( 25-30 a disk)Klipsch The Nines, Audioquest Thunderbird Interconnect, Innuos Zen MK3 W4S recovery, Revolution Audio Labs USB & Ethernet, Border Patrol SE-I, Audioquest Niagara 5000 & Thunder, Cullen Crossover II PC's.

I wouldn't mind paying $30 or more for a well mastered disc. I personally wouldn't buy the whole collection as I don't 'get' their really early stuff. Animals, DSOTM, WYWH and The Wall would probably cover it for me.
-
I wouldn't buy this, no way. They are putting out a new set of remasters in a box set later this year. I wouldn't buy any Floyd these days, because hopefully what's coming our way will be a lot better sound.Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

I used to have the "Oh By The Way" box set : http://www.amazon.com/Oh-Way-Mini-LP-Replica/dp/B000X1LH6C
I sold it as soon as I read that these new masters were coming out in a box set. Once those remasters are released, the prior box set will be worthless...Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance. -
again for me if the japan release of the set is in SHM i would jump on that over a USA release.
BTW wish you were hear, welcome to the machine if you never kicked that out loud you missing out on some of the deepest bass out there. It made my vandersteen protection lights go mad and it wasnt that loud!! The 2.3's or the 1.2's with that just rattles the house.
The pre-order prices from amazon http://www.whypinkfloyd.com/discovery.php from that site run 15-20 a disk. so again, if the cd japan is going to make it shm or sacd, it is worth the price difference. Also usually cd japan has the individual disks as they become available. I will wait and see what is going to be out as it happens.Klipsch The Nines, Audioquest Thunderbird Interconnect, Innuos Zen MK3 W4S recovery, Revolution Audio Labs USB & Ethernet, Border Patrol SE-I, Audioquest Niagara 5000 & Thunder, Cullen Crossover II PC's. -
I disagree. To make any assumption that the SHM version currently available has better/worse sound quality than a US version of masters not even released yet is pointless. The smartest thing to do is to wait until these new masters are released and reviewed before making any moves. For all we know they may put out SHM versions of the new masters. In that case, the current SHM's may be worthless (if the new masters are, in fact, any good...)
To go investing good money into any currently available Pink Floyd collection is a very silly move. Wait and see what actually gets released, and when.Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance. -
If they put out shm versions of the new masters, i would still buy the shm. There is a difference on sound. Or at least to me I can hear a difference on my systems.Klipsch The Nines, Audioquest Thunderbird Interconnect, Innuos Zen MK3 W4S recovery, Revolution Audio Labs USB & Ethernet, Border Patrol SE-I, Audioquest Niagara 5000 & Thunder, Cullen Crossover II PC's.

Ah. That's different. I thought you're advising buying current SHM's over the remasters yet to be released. Can't make any decisions until the new stuff is released. My point is that I wouldn't buy anything right now.Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

I currently have all of the floyd that I ever wanted to own including bootleg copies of unreleased music and have been very happy with the sound of the recordings. I think I will wait to see how others receive these new remastered CD's. Im not sure if the remasters will be worth their cost.Amps- Nakamichi PA 7 & PA 5.

You must listen to Obscured By Clouds, and Meddle, thats when Floyd evolved into the albums you mentioned and yet were not so commercial.Home Theater
