What he said ^^^^^, but if anyone does go to a Sally Ann, Goodwill, or a place like that, bring a small el cheapo speaker and some wire, to test all the outputs, a lot of times those disposable beasts are in there for a reason; they're messed up! Then you can get a good deal, just test it first. If you have an all-in-one remote, bring that too, it wouldn't hurt....Thorens TD125MKII, SME3009,Shure V15/ Teac V-8000S, Denon DN-790R cass, Teac 3340 RtR decks, Onix CD2...Sumo Electra Plus pre>SAE A1001 amp>Martin Logan Summit's -
Any decent electronics that show up at a thrift store is scooped up by the workers before it ever gets to the floor.

They don't at my GoodWill, they aren't alowed to buy anything from their own store.

Ask George Grand about electronics finds in thrift stores. He's found many treasures.SDA-1C (full mods)

Deseret Industries, one of the cleanest, neatest thrifts around, I scored over $600 worth of Ralph Lauren and Alexander Julian Colors clothes, never worn, for about $60, that same trip they had a 1930's solid teakwood with silver inlay flip top bar with a toobed multi-band radio Art Deco style for $750 , it sure was purdy, and worth every penny to a collector.

You just have to know what to look for.
Things known to have been found at a GW shop for dirt cheap by friends of mine.....Carver Lightstar pre-amplifier $10, DCM time window speakers $14, Target Audio speaker stands $75, Vienna Acoustics speakers $20 and one cat I know found an antique organ that looked to be trash bound and was in severe neglect. He bought it for $20.00. The woofer that was in that organ he turned around and sold for $1200.00.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~
