Hey guys, I am toying with the idea a geting a new wireless router, You guys helped me with my wireless issues...somewhat. It is better, but I think that i may need a new one, I am looking for some suggestions on what to get.
This is what i am wanting it to do, I am going to hard wire several devices. xbox, a reciever, I am looking at geting a sonos down the road....and possibly adding a nos device. I am wanting to use wireless for my laptop. I was wondering what router would work best for me. Also any suggestion for a nos device
Thanks

D-link 655 which is a great router, has USB also so you can use NAS storage drive or printer. Also gives you 4 gigabit lan ports on the back for hardwiring in, so you get 10/100/1000.

If you open source support then go with the Asus. The Dlink does not have DD-WRT support as of yet.

+1 for the D-Link 655 -> one of the more reliable routers. Parents have this one.
The Netgear WNDR-3700 is the one I have right now and it's been rock solid as well. Gigabit LAN, USB, media server, dual band N. A little more expensive though.Dali Optikon 1Mk2
NAD D3020 V2
Schiit Bifrost 2/64
..the rest are headphone setups. -
Netgear are highly rated... they have a new model (4000) out with dual band wireless N. Cisco (Linksys) has the E4200. Note that the range on wireless N 5GHz band has a shorter range than 2.4Ghz.

The Beauty of these dual band routers is that you can have 2 wifi networks running concurrently right. For internet, it doesn't really matter, but transferring files via the 5ghz LAN is a bit faster than the 2.4ghz LAN.Dali Optikon 1Mk2

Another +1 for the D-Link 655. I have one, used it with great success for ~1 year. It's currently unplugged since the basement FiOs CPE (customer endpoint) had built-in WiFi, but I'm probably installing it soon (as a second subnet, or bridged with the existing WiFi if I can mesh them) to have better coverage on the top floor. If I can't get it working in a mesh, I'd consider selling it--PM me if interested.
For NAS, I'd recommend looking at the Buffalo LinkStation. LS-CH2.0TL is their current low-end NAS, which gives 2TB of storage for $155 shipped. It's not incredibly fast (low-end embedded CPU running optimized Linux) and it doesn't provide RAID mirroring, but it's pretty cheap and there are higher-end Buffalo products available. I picked up a 500GB Buffalo for $80 when that was the normal price just for the drive, and it's been chugging along with no maintenance for years.
Good luck...Current polk speakers:
Family room 5.1: TC265i R/L, VM10 Center, RC65i surrounds (couldn't match the TCs)
Basement non-dedicated 7.1 HT: SDA-CRS+ R/L, 255c-LS Center, LSiFX surrounds, RC80i in-ceiling rear surround, plus Wharfedale 12" sub (some day I'll get around to building 15" F-20 sub).
