Alamo Drafthouse PSA

While in San Antonio the last 5 months (here for 1 more), my favorite movie theater above all has been the Alamo Drafthouse. They just do it right here! They have half the number of rows of seats due to a long table going down what would be a row of seats. They have waitstaff serving a nice menu of food, beer and wine that is brought to you at your seat. This theater chain has a very non-corporate relaxed type of feel to it. They know how to have a great time at the movies!

So, one BIG BIG rule like other theaters is no talking or texting during the movie. Unlike most other theaters, especially the ones back home in Maryland who have no balls to enforce rules, the "Don't mess with Texas" attitude is thankfully alive and well at the Alamo Drafthouse! Here is a Youtube link to their new Public Service Announcement that will apparently be shown at all R-rated movies, courtesy of some douchebag that insisted the rules didn't apply to her and got punted from the theater. Take note that she first says she was using her phone as a flashlight, but immediately says she didn't know texting was not allowed.

I'll post the link due to the language in the video...

No excuses!

I've been reading around their site and this sounds like an AWESOME business model. I wish there were one closer than VA for me!
    Ludicrous gibs!

I've been in there a few times, really like that theater and will have to go back now just to see that on the big screen:-)

I've been to two of their locations, one up by the airport and one over on the west side of town close to our office down there, always preferred them to the Studio Movie Grill places we have up here in Dallas, but they're comparable.

There's a few in Austin and I live 5 minutes away from one. That's usually the only place we go, it's fun but definitely expensive. Nothing like drinking pitchers while watching a movie though:biggrin:

We have one like that here in my hometown. The place serves food and alcohol as part of the theater experience, and even has couches and recliners where the bottom couple rows would be.

When the kids aren't there, it's a pretty damn relaxing experience.
