hELLO ,Once again I couldn't leave well enough alone and now my Onkyo P-301 is history. To back up a bit w/ advice of members here I deciced to up-grade my I-Cs to THX monster brand. Well half the advice was right but those I-cs were a nightmare to even try to take off. Yes I was warned about the grip of death but that's what I could afford at the time and I'm paying for it now.Since the Onkyo is out that leaves me w/ my Adcom gfa555 amp and the Yamaha RX-V665 AVR. Sounds that came out worked, but not how I wanted them to. Both systems were playing at the same time and clearly that's not why I got a 2-chl rig in the first place. I called Yamaha and the tech actually said this is over his head and some supervisory staff will call later today (BS).
So now I have the Adcom doing nothing and took my Infinitys to zone 2 on the Yamaha. Now at least I do have 2 seperate systems except I have an amp laying around collecting dust and there has got to be a way to get the Adcom and Yamaha to play together but seperate.
I opened the top of the Onkyo and all was tight and truth be told there was not much of any thing in there. Where the I-Cs push in the other side has nothing I've ever seen befor but they are not ports like the rear they are this red looking thing sorry don't have any idea what to call it. I do have a digital multi-meter but there really was not much there to measure. Can any of you dudes help
.OH there was a beautiful Onkyo P304 that stated at $53 on E-BAY and ended over $150w/ shipping. Mine was $50 at a garge sale a year ago.......LW

Let me see if I understand this, both systems are in the same room ? Why not just use the receiver for both then ? Connect the amp to the front preouts, the infinitys to the amp and move the klipsch to a surround duty. You can switch to 2 channel direct or HT in the receiver. It's a workaround untill you can get another pre or the one you have fixed.

yes both systems are in the same room. When I ran the I-Cs from the Adcom to the Yamaha pre-outs it worked . But they both worked at the same time. Klipschs' are my H/T speakers and the Infinitys are for the 2-chl work .Now I must admit I never changed any setting on the Yamaha to 2-ch. If that's all and then back to 7ch fot H/T.Then my friend you might have given me the answer so I don't have an amp just lying around looking for a seperate pre. This Idefinately will try.....LW

Should be a button on the remote to switch to 2 channel direct or it may say "pure". Toss in a movie and switch sources on the remote and bingo, surround sound. You have to set up each input and tell the receiver which speakers to run for each input.

yes I do have that direct button. When you use that it's supposed to eleiminate all unneeded electrics w/ only a blue light showing again never used this feature. I got to get this going I really can't afford a decent pre right now. On the Bay there was beautiful gtp500 at $15.50 and ended sale at $150 +shipping, this I can not do.

If I could buy everything at the starting price on eBay - I wouldn't have half the financial strains I do now. Can't really judge something on a price it isn't sold for.
