I've noticed some "racy" type screen names.

If you're a racer, post a photo and explanation; what do you race, how do you race, why do you race..........

I road race motorcycles, have ever since 1985. Got tired of speeding tickets and someone took me out the local racetrack and I haven't been the same since.

I don't race, but I take my 09 ZX-6 out for track days. I have a ton of fun. In fact, I'm taking a break from putting my bike back to 'street form'. Just broke a damn well nut. I also tried to do a DIY exhaust servo eliminator which I told worked...and it doesn't. So now my FI light is blinking. AND somehow, even though the bike has never been down, one of the edges of my windscreen where the well nut goes to bolt it down is cracked...and the other has completely broken off.

**** end to an otherwise good weekend.

Sorry to hear about your windscreen issues, I've always used zip ties, tuff to keep those well nuts anchored all the time.

Track days are where it's at for me, I actually like that way more than racing, plus, I get to instruct and help out the average street guy get around the track a little better. I'll attach an instructor photo just for fun.

Right, not mine either, in fact, in the early days, my job is what got me financially prepared for racing, after that, I was truly blessed with a handful of sponsorship.

What classes do you race, what bikes are you thrashing?

I drag race my Mach 1. I race heads up and bracket. Why...... because it's fun and exhilarating! :) Also I like the fact that it is just me, based on my reaction time and how good I think or feel my car can go on any given day at the track.

When I race, I race bikes, but the other kind. The ones where I'm the motor. Haven't been racing for a few years though, due to problems with my legs which I hope are corrected now.

I used to race in the Enduro division at Riverhead Speedway (1/4 mi oval stock car) on Long Island. Won $500 for 2nd place once! Tried to move into the Charger division but ran out of cash. Would love to try it again one day. My dad raced Modifieds at Freeport Speedway for ten years before it got torn down.

You bike racers are a crazy bunch but it sure looks like a thrilling sport.

As for me I race golf carts,my real racing dreams ended when Ferrari didn't offer me the drive after Villeneuve's untimely death.:frown::biggrin:

Cody, as far as I'm concerned, track days are it, I actually have more fun on track days than when I'm racing, it's like "practice" with all your buddies.

So, Texas World Speedway for you? I'm originally from S.A. but stuck in the NorthWest for now. I'd love to get down there and do some Tx racing. BTW, ever heard of Doug Polen? I raced against him (well, rode on the same track at the same time) at Riverside Ca before it shut down. That dude is one of the most impressive riders I've ever had the privilege of meeting. He's a Texan by the way. Met Kevin Schwantz once at a final at Road Atlanta, another Texan, he was just there to sign autographs.

One of the greatest in the game. I'm big into Moto GP, met quite a few of the guys out here while in Japan. Took one of Keith Code's riding classes out here too. Most of the GP circuit guys were awesome, Rossi was kind of stuck up, but he's still one of the best out there.

Never heard of them, but I don't really follow racing. Ty Howard is the big guy around here. He holds basically all the records at TWS...haha.

Collin Edwards has a boot camp like 30 minutes away from my house. I'd love to go to, it's like $2k all inclusive...but I can't afford it. People come from all over the nation to attend and its like 30 minutes from my house...cool deal, hopefully someday.

Colin Edwards, had the chance to see him at the '91 Suz cup final in Atlanta, he was just a pup then on a 250 Yam kicking every one, not much refinement at that point of his early career as he was spitting snuff into the fine china we were served at the awards banquet. He really has come a long way since then.

The most fun I have on the ocean is in a sunfish:biggrin:

I loved those things when I was younger. It was awesome getting that little boat sideways, hanging off the side, using your knee to pull up the dagger board to get rid of that last little bit of resistance to go faster...those things were a blast! Wish I had one! But the lake here isn't very big and its semi-popular, so there's not a lot of room for sail boats unfortunately, even one the size of a sunfish
