I just got an xpa-5 and connected to my onkyo receiver. Everything works great but my only problem is when changing channels with my Dish receiver and set on Dolby digital on the onkyo I hear two "pop sounds for about a second or two and its becoming an issue when changing channels. I have no problems when using blu ray, pandora its only when watching dish and the 808 set to Dolby flipping through the channels. I tried changing speaker wire, changing speakers, rca cables and no luck. So I started to mess with the onkyo settings and found out that turning off the audessy solves my problem, everything works like a charm. Can some one please help me solve this? I like how the audessy sounds and would like to keep it on.
thanks.
thanks.

I think it may be something with your Dish receiver. Is there a way to find out if Dish has a new receiver you can trade the current one in for? I have cable and my provider let me trade in my old unit for a new model, and at no charge.
I have both the XPA-5 and Onkyo 808 and the only time I hear the audio pop is when I've just turned on the amp and receiver and it connects to a source. On my cable box I can change channels without any noises in between. The receiver is also set for Dolby Digital while watching TV.
If you can't trade it up for something newer, perhaps you can borrow someone else's just to see if it does it with a different model. Does the Dish receiver have audio options? I don't know anything about those, but perhaps there's a way to have it completely bypass audio decoding.AVR: Onkyo TX-NR808
Amp: Emotiva XPA-5 200 watts x 5

Thanks for the quick reply.... I forgot to mention that the pop sound only comes from the left surround speaker (M60's). The receiver I have is the 612 DVR. I also forgot to mention that I have two receivers (1 living room, 1 bedroom) and did swap the receivers and still have the same problem. The receiver does have an option for dolby digitial and PCM. When I change it to PCM it works fine but its not dolby digital. -
help anyone....
