Power Conditioners/Power Plants

I read a lot of advertisements where manufacturers say you must have clean, noiseless AC going through your system for the best sound possible. Their Power Conditioners, Power Plants, etc will do just that for a cleaner sound you will be able to actually hear. (It sounds like those power cord claims ). Has anyone stumbled onto something that REALLY works? Is there products out there that you can actually hear a difference that do not cost $$$$? Or do we wish we could hear the difference?

Not really....at least in my experience. I wish in crystal clear after thought that I had spent that money on a dedicated line instead. YMMV as well as others. This is just my experience with them.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

I did the power cord thing. The manufacturer said "money back" if I did not hear a difference. I did not. I did get my money back. I wonder if it depends on the quality of your gear (high end vs low end)?

In my apt bldg with old circuits and old transformer boxes on the entrance wiring using Tripplite and Panamax power conditioners did remove significant noise that was coming through in both the audio and video. I don't have the option to run a dedicated line with whole house or circuit specific power surge and voltage level protection, so my answer is yes they can make a difference.DKG999

I have used Balanced Power Tech with good results. Not overly high priced and a noticable improvement for sound and picture quality. I guess it also depends on how dirty your power is though.Living Room Rig:D

In my experience you can see it before you can hear it. A power conditioner helped with the TV when I had some bad power in the house. Though I wasn't really having any problems with the audio. Anything audible on your line already? Or are you just going for diminishing returns for that last extra bit of quality? I think that last bit is where the YMMV comes in to play.

I found a difference in quality, but I believe it is because my house is 50 years old. I would think there would be less of a difference in a new house.Onkyo HTRC 180

I can relate to this statement. I bought a tripplite 10 plug bar, never did notice any audio improvement (didn't expect anything except to have a quality power strip for my gear), but my plasma got a little cleaner looking. My wife that notices NOTHING came in and asked me what I did to the tv to make it look so nice.
And when I say nothing, I moved my 30's from surround on the wall above our heads (bedroom) and put them on the wall next to the plasma (height channels), and moved the 40's from the upper corners of plasma wall to the surround position.
That change had been there for a week and a half, and my wife looks at the 30's and asked, "When did you get those speakers?"

Reason I am asking is because I am always tinkering. I made some speaker wires using Blue Jeans Canare 4S11 Cable based on slammin86 great post. I was concerned about shielding so I decided to add my own shielding in the form of aluminum foil (wrapped twice around the cable and then covered with tightly wrapped electrical tape). I then covered the cable with gray Techflex.
When I first tried the cables, I immediately noticed more base. They may sound clearer, but that is probably my immagination. It is still fun to tinker. So I am wondering what next. -
I posted the same question ages ago and was slammed w/ yes you a power conditioner if your your in a lightening prone area or or electric is old enough to be aluminum or just a cluttered mess. For the longest time I was looking for an Adcom ACE515 conditioner which would fit nicely into the rack I have. Instead I got a Samson ps15 8 outlet surge pro but the joule protection just isn't there. I think all it is a nicelooking plug rack.
