So I pulled all the drivers to make sure I didn't have a mix of drivers "all looks good" I then pulled the passives to make sure there was no damage "all checked out good as well" I did find that the binding posts on the right speaker have been changed out to some cheap crap.

The SL3000 in the left speaker sounded very weak, I swapped out the tweeters with some 198's and had much better sound but they still sound a little off. I looked for the poly switchs and found none, I will look at the crossovers a little more later on.

The one thing I am bummed about is the wood caps, not that they are in bad shape but I want to replace them, and found that they are part of the the cabinet not like the other oak wood caps on other SDA's so I am not sure what I will do there..

Send them to Nicholas. The SDA 1C's I have are the best looking pair I have ever seen. Bar none. At least, that's my recommendation.

    Oh, my manners. Congratulations!

I have to say, as good as you are with metal fixing the wood on your speakers shouldn't be a problem. Dan

Congrats!! I knew you would find a pair of 3.1s eventually! lol I guess these were a little closer than driving to Kansas for a pair. Once you get the x-overs done you will fall in love with them. Sometimes I wish I hadn't sold mine.

Congrats, Larry! I'm glad they went to a good home. I was extremely tempted to buy those 3.1tl's as well. LOL ... But as you or any other sane person would probably agree, I have too many large speakers already! (Did I just say that? Am I running a fever?)

I hope you can whip them into shape without too much trouble. I'm sure they are very unique in the SDA line. I'd love to hear how they differ from the other models...

Congrats Larry! I have a pair of 3.1tl upgraded and love them. Perhaps now you can get going on some rings for yours and make a few extras for the supplicants. Enjoy them.
